Don’t let the cost of fertility medication add to the emotional weight of your journey. We
help eligible patients access Crinone (progesterone vaginal gel) for as little as $69.95
per month through manufacturer Patient Assistance Programs.
The Crinone Prescription Assistance Program is a manufacturer-sponsored initiative that provides Crinone at no medication cost to qualifying patients who cannot afford it. The program provides up to 12 months of medication at no cost if approved, and patients can reapply as needed for continued access. Medicare Part D patients may also be eligible as exceptions on a case-by-case basis.
Navigating this program on your own, however, means managing eligibility requirements, fertility clinic coordination, and urgent documentation — all while meeting the biological timelines that fertility treatment demands.
AffordMyPrescriptions eliminates that burden. For a flat $69.95 per month, our Patient Advocates handle every step of your enrollment with the urgency fertility timelines require, so your progesterone support is available exactly when you need it.

Eligibility is generally determined by annual household income levels. Most programs follow guidelines that include a limit of up to $40,000 for individuals, $60,000 for couples, and $100,000 for larger families. Because these requirements can vary, we encourage you to contact AffordMyPrescriptions directly so we can review your specific situation and determine if you qualify for assistance.
Crinone (progesterone vaginal gel) is a prescription medication used for progesterone supplementation or replacement as part of assisted reproductive technology (ART) treatment — including in vitro fertilization (IVF) — for women with progesterone deficiency, and for the treatment of secondary amenorrhea. Crinone is available in two strengths: Crinone 8% (90 mg per applicator, used for ART/fertility) and Crinone 4% (45 mg per applicator, used for amenorrhea). It is applied vaginally using a prefilled, single-use applicator.
How It Works:
After ovulation or embryo transfer, your body needs progesterone — a hormone produced naturally by the ovaries — to prepare and maintain the uterine lining (endometrium) for pregnancy. Progesterone transforms the uterine lining from a thin, estrogen-primed surface into a thick, receptive, blood-vessel-rich environment that an embryo can successfully implant into and draw nutrients from. Without adequate progesterone, the uterine lining may not be receptive enough for implantation, or it may break down prematurely, leading to early pregnancy loss.
In IVF and other ART treatments, the egg retrieval process can disrupt the ovaries’ natural progesterone production. Crinone replaces this critical hormone by delivering micronized progesterone directly into the vaginal canal using a bioadhesive gel technology. Unlike oral progesterone, which must pass through the digestive system and liver, Crinone’s vaginal delivery allows the progesterone to be absorbed directly through the vaginal wall and achieve high concentrations in the uterine tissue — a phenomenon called the “uterine first-pass”. The bioadhesive gel clings to the vaginal lining and releases progesterone steadily over time.
Form and Use:
Available as Crinone 8% (90 mg) and Crinone 4% (45 mg) single-use prefilled applicators. For fertility treatment, apply one applicator once or twice daily as directed by your fertility specialist, typically beginning on the day of embryo transfer and continuing for 10 to 12 weeks. For amenorrhea, apply every other day.
Generic Availability:
As of April 2026, there is no widely available generic version of Crinone vaginal gel in the United States. While generic progesterone is available in other formulations — oral capsules for as little as $14 per month, and intramuscular injection — these are not directly interchangeable with the vaginal gel formulation for fertility use. Some fertility specialists prescribe generic oral progesterone capsules for vaginal use off-label at lower cost. Specialty IVF pharmacies mayalso offer Crinone at significantly reduced prices.
Warnings:
Use Crinone only as prescribed by your fertility specialist or OB/GYN. Do not stop using Crinone without medical supervision during fertility treatment — sudden discontinuation can compromise embryo implantation or early pregnancy. Tell your doctor about all other medications you take and any history of blood clots, liver problems, or hormone-sensitive conditions.
Crinone 8% costs approximately $459–$700 for 15 applicators at retail chain pharmacies. With GoodRx coupons, the lowest price is approximately $459. Specialty IVF pharmacies may offer prices as low as $65–$100. A full IVF treatment cycle requiring 10–12 weeks of daily use can total $1,800–$5,600 or more at retail. Through AffordMyPrescriptions, qualifying patients receive Crinone at no medication cost — our $69.95 monthly fee
covers advocacy.
Yes. The Crinone shipped through the Patient Assistance Program is the identical FDA- approved brand-name medication dispensed at U.S. pharmacies. It ships in the manufacturer’s original packaging.
There is no widely available generic vaginal progesterone gel in the United States. Some fertility specialists prescribe generic oral progesterone capsules for vaginal use off-label at approximately $14–$30/month — a dramatic savings. However, this is a clinical decision your doctor must make. Specialty IVF pharmacies may also offer Crinone at reduced prices.
Possibly. Medicare Part D patients may be eligible as exceptions on a case-by-case basis. Coverage for fertility medications varies widely — some states have mandates, others do not. Our advocates can help you understand your coverage options and explore alternatives.
Our Patient Advocates will immediately explore every alternative — including manufacturer copay savings cards, specialty IVF pharmacies ($65–$100/box), GoodRx and SingleCare coupons, generic oral progesterone capsules (if appropriate per your doctor), compounded progesterone suppositories ($30–$100), and progesterone injection alternatives. If we can’t help, you won’t be charged.
Because fertility treatment operates on tight biological timelines, our advocates prioritize rapid processing for Crinone applications — typically within 1 to 2 weeks. We coordinate closely with your fertility clinic to match your treatment timeline and explore bridge supply options if needed.
