Don’t let Parkinson’s medication costs steal more independence than the disease already does. We help eligible patients access Tasmar (tolcapone) for as little as $69.95 per month through available assistance programs.
The Tasmar Prescription Assistance Program is a manufacturer-sponsored initiative designed to help qualifying patients who cannot afford Tasmar access the medication at no or reduced cost. The program is available to U.S. citizens and legal residents who have experienced financial or insurance hardships.
Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurological condition that gradually steals your ability to move, speak, and perform everyday activities — and as the disease advances, the levodopa that once controlled your symptoms begins to “wear off” between doses, leaving unpredictable windows where tremors, stiffness, and freezing return with full force. When your neurologist adds Tasmar to your regimen, discovering that this essential adjunctive medication costs $8,098+ per month can add financial desperation to an already challenging diagnosis.
AffordMyPrescriptions ensures that advanced Parkinson’s therapy remains accessible. For a flat $69.95 per month, our Patient Advocates manage every step of your enrollment.

Parkinson’s disease is a lifelong condition that typically requires an increasingly complex medication regimen as it progresses — and when wearing-off episodes begin disrupting your daily function, adding Tasmar to your treatment plan is not optional, it’s essential for maintaining mobility and independence. The challenge of managing a progressive neurological disease is compounded when the adjunctive medications your neurologist adds cost $1,040 to $8,098+ per month.
Our trained Patient Advocates understand neurology medication access and manage every administrative detail so you can focus on living with Parkinson’s rather than fighting with finances. From the moment you enroll, your advocate determines whether brand-name Tasmar, generic tolcapone at the best coupon price, or an alternative COMT inhibitor is the right fit for your situation. When refills are due, they manage that proactively — because for Parkinson’s patients, missing doses allows wearing-off episodes to return immediately.
Our pricing is simple and predictable: $69.95 per month — every month. While the medication itself is provided at no cost through assistance programs (or at the lowest available coupon price), our monthly fee covers all advocacy and program management. If we’re unable to secure access, you won’t be charged.

Eligibility is generally determined by annual household income levels. Most programs follow guidelines that include a limit of up to $40,000 for individuals, $60,000 for couples, and $100,000 for larger families. Tasmar (tolcapone) is a prescription oral tablet used as an adjunct treatment for Parkinson’s disease in patients already taking carbidopa/levodopa. It is specifically prescribed when patients experience “wearing-off” episodes — periods when levodopa’s effectiveness fades between doses, causing Parkinson’s symptoms to return. Tasmar is available as 100 mg tablets taken three times daily, always in combination with carbidopa/levodopa.
How It Works:
In Parkinson’s disease, the brain doesn’t produce enough dopamine — the neurotransmitter that controls smooth, coordinated movement. Levodopa (taken with carbidopa) is the primary treatment because it enters the brain and is converted into dopamine, temporarily restoring motor function. However, before levodopa can reach the brain, a significant portion of it is broken down in the body by an enzyme called catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT). This premature breakdown means less levodopa reaches the brain, and its effects wear off more quickly.
Tasmar works by blocking the COMT enzyme throughout the body. When you take Tasmar alongside your carbidopa/levodopa, COMT can no longer break down levodopa as quickly. This means more levodopa survives the journey to your brain, and the levodopa that does reach your brain stays active longer. The practical result is that each dose of levodopa lasts longer and works more consistently, reducing or eliminating the wearing-off episodes that disrupt your day.
Form and Use:
Available as 100 mg tablets. Take one tablet three times daily — typically with each dose of your levodopa. Always used in combination with carbidopa/levodopa. Your neurologist may reduce your levodopa dose once Tasmar begins extending its effectiveness.
Generic Availability:
Generic tolcapone (100 mg tablets) is available in the United States. Generic versions can be found for approximately $1,040 to $2,418 for 90 tablets with discount coupons, compared to $8,098–$11,146 for brand-name Tasmar. The generic contains the same active ingredient at the same dose and is FDA-approved for the same indication.
However, even at generic prices, tolcapone remains an expensive medication due to the specialized nature of its use in advanced Parkinson’s disease. For patients who cannot afford even the generic price, assistance programs through AffordMyPrescriptions provide the most affordable access for $69.95 per month.
Warnings:
Tasmar carries a boxed warning regarding the risk of severe liver injury. Regular liver function testing is required — before starting, regularly during the first 6 months, and periodically afterward. Tell your healthcare provider immediately if you experience symptoms of liver problems (yellowing of skin/eyes, dark urine, fatigue). Common side effects include diarrhea, dizziness, and dyskinesias.
Brand-name Tasmar costs approximately $8,098–$11,146 for 90 tablets (a one-month supply). Generic tolcapone costs approximately $1,040–$2,418 for 90 tablets with coupons. Through AffordMyPrescriptions, qualifying patients can access Tasmar at no medication cost — our $69.95 monthly fee covers advocacy and program management.
Yes. The Tasmar supplied through assistance programs is the same FDA-approved tolcapone medication, supplied directly from the manufacturer
Both are COMT inhibitors used with levodopa, but Tasmar (tolcapone) is generally considered more potent. Tasmar is typically reserved for patients whose wearing-off episodes are not adequately controlled by entacapone or who cannot tolerate it. Generic entacapone may be available at a lower cost — discuss with your neurologist.
Yes. Medicare Part D patients may qualify for assistance programs. As of 2026, Medicare Part D plans also have a $2,100 annual out-of-pocket cap. Our advocates can help you evaluate the best pathway.
